The Norwich City Community Sports Foundation is proud to announce the addition of the Run Norwich Junior Run for 2024.
Run Norwich – proudly sponsored by co-main sponsors, Anglian Home Improvements and Norse Group – returns on Sunday 8th September, with the exciting new addition of a Junior Run. The run will be one mile long and will be open for ages 8-15, with under-10s required to be accompanied by an adult.
The decision comes as a result of the continuous growth of Run Norwich as it enters its ninth year, highly anticipated to sell out in record time. The new run is geared towards inspiring the next generation of runners, highlighting one of the Foundation’s key values of driving inclusion within the local community.
The event will have a capacity of 500 places and will require participants to raise a minimum of £50 for the Community Sports Foundation as part of their entry. Accompanying parents will be required to pay a £10 entry fee and can be responsible for a maximum of two children running the course. Parents would not be allowed to participate in both races.
Emma Fletcher-Dungay, Head of Fundraising at the Community Sports Foundation, said:
“We’re extremely excited about the new junior iteration of Run Norwich. With the race being increasingly popular year after year, we felt there was no better time to explore an expansion and allow younger, budding runners to take part in one of the UK’s best running events.
“To allow for the Junior Run to take place, we have pushed the main race start time back by ten minutes, to now commence at 9:40am. The Junior Run will begin at 9:15am and finish at 9:30, allowing sufficient turnaround time before the Run Norwich 10K race. All road closures will also remain the same, with the Junior Race taking part within the Run Norwich route.
“We are so proud of how Run Norwich has grown over the years, and we could not be more thrilled to be making this exciting addition.”
Entries for Run Norwich will open on Wednesday and Thursday 28th (Charity) and 29th of February (General), with the Junior Run to open entries in the weeks following.
