Twelve strong race contingent from Run Norwich sponsors Lovell set for race day

Article via Lovell.co.uk

Twelve team members from race sponsor Lovell‘s East Anglia team are gearing up to take part in the 2022 race with everyone from the managing director to contacts managers, surveyors and customer care individuals competing.

We caught up with their MD, Simon Medler, who said: “We love taking part in Run Norwich as it has a great atmosphere, supports the local community, raises money for the Community Sports Foundation and gets the team together. We are fundraising as a group, and asking for donations from family and friends, as well as our supply chain. It is the third time I have competed in Run Norwich and this time am aiming to complete it in 55 minutes – we’ll see if all the training pays off! Norwich itself also provides inspiration when running as the route passes by locations including Norwich Castle, The Forum, Norwich Cathedral, Carrow Road and many more iconic places.”

Those raising funds for the Community Sports Foundation by competing are Simon Medler, Graeme Simpson, James Johnson, Phil Tipping, Oliver Crocker, Ben Chase, David Methold, Ryan Harris-Smith, James Sutton, Joe Jackson, Will Wright and Beth Prior. While some are regular runners, others are new to it!

We caught up with the rest of the team to find out how training is going:

Why are you doing Run Norwich and what is your motivation?

“Helping others, representing Lovell and having a commitment to keep fit. It is the first time I am taking part in Run Norwich and I’m not as young and fit as I used to be!” – Phil

“In preparation for running the London marathon in October and this is part of the training. I run two or three times a week, as well as in the Lovell training group on a Wednesday evening.” – Ben

“I’m taking part to improve my overall fitness. I’ve never competed in this before so look forward to running with the team.” – Ryan

“I like the challenge! I’m a little unfit so it’s a good way to challenge myself. I did the virtual one in 1-hour 8minutes, 2 years ago so the challenge is to beat that time and get under an hour.” – David

What will you do to celebrate after the race?

“Lay back and think of England – with a pint I imagine.” – Phil

“A meal and a cold beer.” – Ben

“Have a pint.” – Ryan

“Enjoy the day off as I usually work Sundays, but, in all likelihood, go to the pub!” – David

The Community Sports Foundation is Norwich City Football Club’s official charity partner and helps thousands of people every year achieve their goals through sport, supporting some of the most disadvantaged, disabled and talented people across Norfolk. Its vision is to support, inspire, and improve our community.

We wish every member of the Lovell team who are competing the best of luck and some of the team will be there cheering you on. Go team Lovell!
