On what would have been her 48th birthday, today we are celebrating the life of Beth Hill from Norwich.
An ever-present on our startline since 2015, Beth sadly passed away from cancer last year.
On race day this year (Sunday 17th July), a group of 25 friends, family and acquaintances will be celebrating a life that was taken too soon by running, walking and run-walking around the course in Beth’s honour.
Helen Lemmon, who became acquainted with Beth through Run Norwich, said:
“I met Beth Hill at the end of my first ever Run Norwich in 2019. She grabbed me a banana, congratulated me and we ended up hugging and exchanging phone numbers. From that day forward, we would speak almost daily.
“A running and yoga enthusiast, Beth had run every Run Norwich event. If she wasn’t training for her next big running event, she’d be up early walking around the lake at UEA or doing yoga at Eaton Park. She had so many friends like me, that she had made through her running.
“Unfortunately in 2021, Beth was diagnosed with terminal cancer – it had spread throughout her body and was untreatable. She passed away on November 7th 2021 after facing the hardest battle of her life, leaving behind three beautiful children: Tiegan, Charlie and Travis.
“I decided to get a group of us running this year to celebrate one of the things Beth loved the most: Run Norwich. We’ve set up a GoFundMe page in the hope of raising lots of funds for Nelson’s Journey, a charity close to Beth’s heart, and to hopefully fund a memorial bench by the lake at UEA or in Eaton Park.
“Beth’s Daughter Tiegan will be designing a t-shirt for us all and we will be wearing ribbons in her honour. We are #BethsArmy, and I know she will be running with us on the day.”
