After winning the 2025 title, Smith arrives in excellent form. Earlier this season, he claimed victory at the Romney Marsh 10K in an impressive 31:32, underlining his status as one of the leading contenders in the field.
A three-time Run Norwich winner and champion in 2023, Smith missed last year’s race due to focusing on marathon and 50km distances. Now, he returns with unfinished business and hopes of becoming Run Norwich’s first ever four-time champion.
His 2026 season has been packed with impressive performances, with the Norwich-based athlete claiming victories at both the Wroxham 5K (14:41) and the Holt 10K (32:44). Smith’s championship experience and proven ability to deliver on the biggest stages make him a major contender for the top step of the podium.
Also returning to our fine city after a one year absence is course record holder Jonathan Escalante-Phillips (#1801, Cambridge & Coleridge AC)
Back in 2024, the Cambridge & Coleridge athlete smashed the previous course record with a time of 30:41. This year, he’ll be back, looking to better his time and clinch his second Run Norwich crown in three years.
This year, Escalante-Phillips posted a 29:07 at the Manchester 10K, which stands in in good stead for a podium place at the very least in Run Norwich 2026.
One of the most exciting additions to the 2026 elite field is Dean Williamson (#69, Colchester Harriers)
Making his Run Norwich debut, Williamson arrives with one of the most eye-catching statistics of anyone in the men’s race. His outstanding 29:59 10K personal best puts him well in contention for becoming a race podium debutant in his first year in the race.
Despite being new to Run Norwich, Williamson’s experience and impressive running repertoire could make him the man to challenge not only for victory but potentially even the course record.
Ones to watch: Danny Adams (#3, City of Norwich AC) Harry Allcock (#5, City of Norwich AC) Kim Bowling (#58, Colchester Harriers AC), Piers Arnold (#7, City of Norwich AC) James Senior (#9, City of Norwich AC)
Women’s Race
A leading contender for the women’s field is none other than Holly Archer (#1, Cambridge & Coleridge AC), the reigning champion and current Run Norwich course record holder.
The Cambridge & Coleridge athlete returns seeking a third consecutive Run Norwich title and another title to add to an already outstanding running career. Archer has continued her excellent form throughout 2026, posting an impressive 33:48 at the Valentines 10K.
Having already etched her name into Run Norwich history, she now has the opportunity to strengthen her legacy even further, and make it a ‘three-peat’ on Norwich city soil.
One of the most intriguing storylines of Run Norwich 2026 centres around debutant Daisy Glover (#63, Framlingham Flyers)
The Suffolk-based athlete has enjoyed an outstanding 2026 season and arrives with credentials that demand attention. Her 33:19 10K performance at the Stephen Williams 10K is one of the standout times among the entire female field.
On paper, that time even edges ahead of Archer’s recent performances, setting up what could be one of the most exciting head-to-head races that Run Norwich has witnessed in years.
If Glover can translate that speed onto the streets of Norwich, she could become a champion and course record-holder on her first appearance.
A familiar face to Run Norwich supporters, Ellie Grubb (#4, City of Norwich AC) returns after securing third place in 2025.
This year’s race will mark Grubb’s fourth consecutive Run Norwich appearance, and her experience around the course could be a major advantage. Having recently recorded a 34:57 at the Ipswich Twilight 10K, she enters the event in strong form and will certainly be targeting another podium finish.
Ones to watch: Leanne Finch (#6, Bure Valley Harriers) Grace Buchanan (#135, North Norfolk Beach Runners) Cat Cummings (#8, City of Norwich AC)
With defending champions returning, local heroes back in contention, exciting debutants arriving full of confidence and course records potentially under threat, Run Norwich 2026 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting editions yet.
Will Marshall Smith defend his men’s title? Can Logan Smith reclaim the crown? Will Jonathan Escalante-Phillips break his own record? Is Dean Williamson about to announce himself with a spectacular debut?
Will Holly Archer make it three in a row, or can Daisy Glover rewrite the script? Will Ellie Grubb secure a podium spot once again?
There’s only one way to find out.
