It has come to our attention that people/parties are targeting the race by falsely claiming they have tickets to the sold-out Run Norwich for ‘sale’ on social media.
The scammers advertise they have places for sale, and once contacted, ask for money to be sent to their PayPal accounts in exchange for the place.
Please remember, that race transfers can only be done through the ACTIVE system. No money should ever trade hands between the transferor and the transferee – this is all managed through ACTIVE’s payment system.
The only information that a transferor requires to transfer their Run Norwich place via ACTIVE is an email address. If you are being asked for anything else beyond this, then it is likely a fraudulent transaction.
For clarity, here’s how a legitimate transfer between you (the transferee) and someone with a place to transfer (the transferor) would take place:
Step 1 – The transferor selects a transferee. In order to do the transfer, the transferor will need to ask the transferee for their email address.
Step 2 – The transferor accesses their My Events portal on ACTIVE and logs in with their credentials. On the Run Norwich 2020 dashboard, they click ‘Transfer Registration’ and input the transferee’s email address when prompted (see below).
Step 3 – This will send an automatically generated private link from ACTIVE to the transferee’s email address.
Step 4 – Upon clicking ‘Claim Registration’ the transferee will be directed to the ACTIVE registration form for the race, and prompted to input their full entry details. At the end of the process, they will need to pay for their place.
Step 5 – Once the transferee’s payment has gone through, the transfer will be complete. ACTIVE will refund the transferor within 7 working days. Please note: The 6% ACTIVE Network processing fee is not refunded.
If you have any doubts about the legitimacy of the place you are being offered, please contact us so we can verify the person does indeed have a place to transfer.
Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us here if you see a suspicious post on social media, or if you have any other queries re. transferring your place.
