Six new things at Run Norwich 2024

Run Norwich 2024 has brought a few changes this year as we look to sustainably grow the event and allow new groups to experience the occasion.

1. START TIME!

In case you weren’t already aware, this year’s 10K will start at a slightly later time of 9.40am to allow our Run Norwich Junior runners enough time to complete their one-mile circuit. They will start at 9.15am.

2. JUNIOR RUN

The second and probably most major change that you’re hopefully already aware of is the introduction of the very first Junior Run Norwich for children (and accompanying parents) from ages 8-15. This fun run will see 500 participants take to the course to tackle a 1.5km (around a mile) circuit around Chapelfield Gardens and back onto Theatre Street. Please give them your biggest cheer as the young runners cross the finish line.

3. PENS

The introduction of the Junior Run also means a change to some of our start pens. Green, Yellow and Pink pens, you’ll remain as you were last year, whilst the black and blue pens will shift slight to allow room for the Junior Run. The black pen will now line up in front of the The Forum on Millenium Plain with the blue pen directly behind, in front of City Hall.

4. BAGGAGE DROP

Black pen runners, we hear you loud and clear! We’re conscious that our fastest running cohort like to have some space to stretch, warm up and undertake any other pre-race rituals necessary. With this in mind, we’ve moved the black pen baggage drop to Chantry Car Park on Theatre Street to grant you a more segregated baggage drop/collection and warmup space before the race. Baggage trailers will be open from 8am-9am before closing and reopening from 10am-midday.

5. NEW AGE CATEGORY

Another bit of feedback we’ve received from runners was regarding our age brackets, specifically cutting off the prizes at too young an age. This year will see the addition of a 75+ winners bracket for the first time – so if you know any over-75s taking on Run Norwich this year, let them know there are prizes up for grabs!

6. SOUVENIR BAG

You may have already read in the ‘sustainability’ section of our race magazine, or even in our recent web story, that we’ve made further changes to our souvenir bags this year. Last year’s feedback told us that a lot of runners find it difficult to find a use for the free gift inside their souvenir bag, such as last year’s snood. This year, as part of our sustainability push, we have decided to remove the additional ‘goodie’ from these bags, which will not only ensure less waste is created, but also allows us to spend the money saved on improving other areas of the race, or reinvesting it into our community through the work of the Community Sports Foundation.
