Run Norwich follows UK Athletics guidelines on the matter

We’ve had a few queries about the use of headphones during Run Norwich.

As our race rules state, we follow UK Athletics guidelines in not allowing regular headphones to be used. However, we do permit bone-conduction technology at Run Norwich on Sunday in line with a change made last year by UK Athletics.

Bone-conduction headphones sit on the cheekbones, allowing the user to still be alert to their surroundings. The technology delivers the sound through vibrations.

Please note that the use of earphones or other headphones are still strictly prohibited.

The ban is all about your safety. It’s essential that runners are able to clearly hear instructions that our race marshalls need to give you. Any runners wearing regular headphones will be disqualified.

A mixture of live music and sound systems will be positioned at various intevals along the route.
