Norwich City Community Sports Foundation is delighted to unveil Lotus Cars as a new partner sponsor of Run Norwich.

Lotus will be the Official Vehicle Sponsor for both the 2023 and 2024 races.

The Foundation’s flagship event will welcome 8,500 entrants when it returns to Norwich’s city centre on Sunday 16th July.

As part of the sponsorship agreement, the Norfolk-based company will supply the lead car for the race, in addition to a number of support vehicles.

Lotus’ backing of the race is the latest step in a flourishing relationship between the company and the charity.

In 2021, Lotus donated an Elise Sport 240 Final Edition to the charity, helping to raise over £100,000.

Matt Windle, Group Vice-President, Managing Director at Lotus Cars and himself a two-time participant of the race, said: “We’re delighted to be involved as Official Vehicle Sponsor both for this year and next. Run Norwich is a great event – as I can personally testify – and I’ll be taking part again in July. Lotus Cars continues to be a proud supporter of the work of Norwich City Community Sports Foundation.”

Ian Thornton OBE, Chief Executive of the Foundation, said: “Lotus is an iconic Norfolk brand, so to have it involved with Run Norwich is really exciting.

“Delivering an event of this size comes at a considerable cost for the charity, but Lotus’ backing means more of our expenses can be covered. This ultimately means more of each runner’s entrance fee can go towards our work with disabled and disadvantaged people in the local community.”

He continued: “It’s going to be quite the sight to have a Lotus leading thousands of runners through our historic city.  We are so grateful to Matt and everyone at Lotus for their continued support of the charity.”

Voted ‘Best 10k in the UK’ by the Running Awards, the Run Norwich route passes some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, including Norwich Castle, The Forum, Norwich Cathedral and many more.

The inaugural event took place in 2015, and since then tens of thousands of runners have taken to the city centre streets for the annual race.

A 24-hour priority window for charity entrants fundraising for the Community Sports Foundation will open at 9am on Tuesday 14th February, with general entry opening at 9am on Wednesday 15th February.
