Run Norwich has maintained its British Association of Road Races (BARR) Gold grade following inspection by association representatives on race day on Sunday 30 August.
Gold is the best grade that can be awarded by BARR and demonstrates the very highest standards of race organisation and management.
“We’re delighted that Run Norwich has been awarded the gold grade,” says Run Norwich race director Granville Courtnell. “Our aim is for Run Norwich to be the best large-scale running event of its kind in the East of England and this is a key step in that process.”
The road race grading scheme is designed by BARR in association with UK Athletics and runbritain and is the standards setting body within the sport of road running.
Grades are awarded on a yearly basis and Gold grade events are scrutinised and reviewed on each race day.
As well as the feedback received from BARR, Granville and the race operations team have been reviewing over a thousand post-race questionnaires submitted by runners:
“Planning is already underway for next year’s event and our first job is to review and take on board as many of the concerns, suggestions and areas for improvement from runners as well as BARR.
“The first event is always a learning curve. We were pleased with how the race ran, but we know there are number of areas that can be better next year, in particular regarding congestion at the start line.
“The responses from the runners’ questionnaires has been invaluable in this respect and we encourage any runners who have not submitted their form to do so as soon as possible.”
