Grant Holt to have the honour on race day
Norwich City FC legend Grant Holt will sound the starter horn at this Sunday’s Run Norwich, we can reveal.
The striker scored 78 goals for the Canaries between 2009-2013, and won the player of the season award three times.
The 36-year-old played in Scotland last season, where he helped Hibernian to win the Championship title.
Holt lives in Norfolk and regularly does ambassadorial work for Norwich City Football Club and Run Norwich event organisers, the Community Sports Foundation.
He will follow in the footsteps of Delia Smith (2016) and David James (2015), who have both started the race in previous years.
A capacity 6,000 entrants have entered the race this year, and the event is expected to attract tens of thousands of supporters into the city centre.
The race starts this at 9.30am (Sunday 6th August) on Gentleman’s Walk in front of the market, and finishes in front of the City Hall.
