Cheer stations not only give runners that much-needed boost, but they also serve as fantastic focal points for spectators – you can help create the electrifying atmosphere that Run Norwich is famous for.

A cheer station is a designated spot along the race route where organisations, communities or groups of supporters gather to cheer and support the runners.

Thinking about setting up a cheer station this year? Check out our top tips for running the perfect cheer station:

Be loud and bring the atmosphere – DJs, live music, cowbells, horns, clapping and cheering – we want it all! The louder, the better!
Stay connected – Set up a WhatsApp group for your cheer squad – the city is bustling on race day morning with thousands of runners and spectators, so clear communication is key. Ensure everyone knows where to meet, when to arrive and what to bring.
Bring your numbers – Make your cheer station a standout – invite as many people as possible to amp up the energy.
Showcase your spirit – Make your organisation or business shine – use vibrant branding (e.g. flags, banners, signs). Coordinate outfits or create branded cheer t-shirts to stand out.
Be unique – Got a unique idea for a cheer station? Do it. Think outside the box for maximum impact.
Safety first – Ensure your cheer station is pre-approved by the Run Norwich team. Avoid fireworks, paraphernalia or any items that could cause harm. Stay within your allocated space to avoid obstructing runners or spectators.
